Raison d'être

For more than fifty years, The Bel Canto Singers have been bringing excellence in choral performance to audiences through the exploration of works spanning the traditional to the experimental, and from ancient to modern. Why? Because we love it.

Choral Stewardship

Hundreds of choristers have passed through our ranks over the years, and at times, the choir has had three family generations represented at the same time (as it does today).  Maintaining a healthy choral community in New Brunswick is key to continuing this tradition.

Gibson MacMillan

Gibson is a native of Stratford now based in Saint John. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Organ and Choral Conducting from Mount Allison University and is active throughout the Maritimes as a conductor, organist, pianist, composer, and educator. He serves as Associate Director of Music at St. Paul's Anglican Church and Organist at St. Mark's Catholic Church. Gibson is Artistic Director of the Cathedral Choral Society and, very recently, the Bel Canto Singers. He teaches full-time at Divine Mercy Catholic School. A sought-after collaborative musician, he regularly performs with singers and ensembles across Atlantic Canada, including Raise Your Voice Ladies’ Choir, NB Choralfest, Anglican Choir School, the Saint John Theatre Company, and numerous school and community theatre productions.
